About the Galveston County Food Bank:
The Galveston County Food Bank engages a network of charitable food organizations (partnering agencies) to facilitate the flow of approximately 600,000 pounds monthly of nutritious foods into the homes of families and individuals facing hunger throughout the county. These partnering agencies identify persons in need within their own communities, receive product from the food bank warehouse, and distribute product directly to their clients. These smaller organizations lack the financial power to purchase and the physical space and necessary freezer/refrigeration equipment to store bulk quantities of essential food on an ongoing basis. It is through this collaborative effort the Galveston County Food Bank and its network of partner agencies strive to meet the needs of the 18.1 percent or over 53,000 people reported by Feeding America as struggling with hunger in Galveston County.
